Section 01
The Breakdown
Every issue opens on one real problem from inside American industry and works it the way you would on a Tuesday morning — concrete, specific, and honest about what's hard.
About
Industrial Quotient is a weekly email about how American industry actually works, written for everyone in it — the person on the floor and the person signing the check. Most industrial media writes to one of them. We write to all of them, in the same plain voice, because the work and the decisions are the same story told from different chairs.
The throughline is what AI and automation are doing to the actual work — who they help, who they displace, and what's real versus what's still a slide. Most of industry is having that change happen to it. The aim here is to help you see it coming.
It starts as a newsletter because the fastest way to be useful every week is to just write — no keynote gloss, no consultant deck. One operator, working the real problems out loud, on the same day every week.
What's inside every issue
Industrial Quotient doesn't sort its readers into camps. It speaks to everyone in American industry — the floor and the front office — in one voice, because the work and the decisions are the same story told from different chairs. Here's the shape of every issue.
Section 01
Every issue opens on one real problem from inside American industry and works it the way you would on a Tuesday morning — concrete, specific, and honest about what's hard.
Section 02
The business side of that same problem: what it costs, what it's worth, and where the capital is moving. The numbers a decision actually turns on.
Section 03
How AI, automation, and data are changing the way the work gets done — the parts that are real, and the parts that are still a demo.
Section 04
One figure to carry into your week, and a sentence on why it matters. Some weeks it settles an argument. Some weeks it starts one.
Five minutes, start to finish. Long enough to be worth your time, short enough to read before the first meeting.
